One of my favorite designers at the moment – Amy Butler – has just come out with new bedding lines (being sold at Bed Bath & Beyond) and also a rug line. I am super excited about the rug line! Here is the one that I want for our office – other than the dimensions it is exactly what I have been looking for. I haven’t figured out how to buy anything yet – I think that it is too new. Thought I would share. 🙂

Update on our DIY project
We finished the chair rail in our study and living room last week. We also painted all the walls under the chair rail white – prepping them for our faux wainscoting treatment. Since we tore off the old chair rail and moved the new chair rail up higher we did some damage to the drywall. We thought paint might hide the imperfections but it doesn’t. So, alas, we have some repair work to do to our walls as well. So we’ll have pictures when those two rooms are complete! But for now here are some pictures of our kitchen. We …
DYI Project for July
Mike and I decided a few weeks ago that the chair rail in our house needed to be replaced. The old chair rail wasn’t real chair rail – is is the backing that you put behind chair rail. So we are starting in the office and then we’ll move onto the living room. The office is almost done – here it is mid-process.
At it again
I can’t seem to keep my house the same for too long. It might be a disease – but I just get bored and keep thinking about how I can do it better. This is probably why I don’t have much on the walls yet! I can’t commit. 🙂 Anyways, I decided that I wanted to see what our bedroom would look like rearranged. I was pleasantly surprised as to how it all came out. We now have two rooms in one – bedroom and a sitting room. Here are some pictures of the new layout. (We are working on …
Fireplace
I was shopping the other day at TJ Maxx and found this beautiful electric fireplace at a great price. I had to have it! So I bought it and we brought it home today (thanks to B & L!). A little background – we are planning on re-doing our master bath and closet in the near future. The fireplace will go at the foot of our bed where the closet doors are now. This has been a part of our master plan and so when I saw it I figured we would get it a little early if we could …
New Living Room
Well, not really – I just re-arranged it. I really do like it though! It makes the space feel so much bigger (and it hides the ugly dog cage). Here are some pictures – mostly to humor my sister. 🙂
Paint Job Complete!
The exterior paint job for our house is finally complete! Well, except they never put the light back up over the garage – oh well. Mike will just have to do that when he gets back from AZ. So this is the new color of our house and the stain on the deck. It looks like we got a whole new deck! Now we just need to tackle the yard and work on our gardening skills….
Living Room Update
So the painting part of our living room project is complete (still so much more we want to do!). After our unsuccessful first paint job I think we are very happy with the new green color. We are also impressed with what spray paint can do for an ugly black and gold fireplace doors. My sister thought it was new! The coffee table is also a new addition. Still haven’t found end tables but one little piece at a time. Told everyone I would put up a picture so here is one – enjoy!
One year
Yesterday was the official one year anniversary of the day we moved into our house. I was looking at some of the pictures we took when the house was empty (before we moved all our junk in) and the house has changed quite a bit. We still have a long list of projects that we wish to undertake but we have gotten quite a few accomplished. We, however, had a paint blunder this weekend and must backtrack and repaint. The very fun green color we got for the living room and office is just a bit too bright. So we …
Blue paint
We spent all afternoon today painting our bedroom a lovely blue/gray color. As of 5:30 PM it is still not finished but it is getting there. We got a little hungry and needed to stop for a food break. Painting was not the most fun part of the whole afternoon however. The best part – I recommend this for anyone who would like to work on patience – was to listen to our dog bark for 3 hours in his kennel. We had to put him in there so we didn’t have blue paw prints around the house. He knew …
