Day after Surgery

Yesterday was the surgery. Everything went really well and I had an excellent team of nurses and doctors. I was apparently pretty funny and happy through some of it all too! Despite the very large bandage on my leg and having to get around on crutches I was feeling pretty good yesterday. On top of the general anesthesia, they gave me a nerve block to my foot so I couldn’t feel anything until about 6 this morning. And then it all wore off and now there is pain and I haven’t moved from my bed. The oxycodone is definitely taking …

Fresh Flowers

Can you tell that I have nothing to do but hang out with my camera & computer?? This injury stinks but at least I’m getting lots of time to work on my bible study material, read, learn more photography skills and do lots of blogging. 🙂 Fresh flowers in my house always make me happy. News from the Doctor

We meet the surgeon today and spoke to him about the options. He agreed that I definitely have a torn achilles tendon and he highly recommended surgery. Apparently, you can heal this kind of injury by casting and immobilization but it is not as successful as surgery. So, surgery is scheduled for this coming Wednesday. I will be off my leg for about 2 weeks and then will be fitted for a splint and start PT. I will be able to walk fully in a couple of weeks but won’t be back into running or athletics for a couple of …

Unexpected Injury

Earlier this month my neighbor and I were talking and he saw my volleyball t-shirt. He asked, “Do you play volleyball?”. I said, “Yes!” So he gave me information about the Apex Community League and how to join his team. So I signed up and have been pumped to be able to play volleyball again.
